The Short Version
Bombyhead Games is a one-person indie studio making free browser games. Every game runs right in your browser — no downloads, no installs, no sign-ups. Just click and play.
The Story
Bombyhead Games started with a simple idea: make games that are fun, free, and instantly accessible to anyone with a web browser. No app stores, no gatekeepers, no paywalls blocking the good parts. Every game here is built from scratch with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript — no game engine middleware, no frameworks, just code.
Each game is a different experiment. Some are relaxing (CalmMerge), some are brutal (VoidRunner), some are silly (Rigged!), and some are deep enough to lose a whole weekend in (BombyDeluxe). The common thread is that they're all free to play and designed to respect your time.
The site is sustained by optional tips, a small shop in some games, and unobtrusive ads. None of these are required to enjoy any game fully. If you never spend a cent, that's completely fine — the games were built to be played, not to be monetized.
The Games
-
RicochetMarket Roguelite
A Peggle-inspired roguelite where you clear pegs, collect powerful relics, and try to master an ever-changing market of upgrades. Each run is different thanks to random relic combinations and escalating difficulty. Features boss battles, a deep meta-progression system, and dozens of unlockable relics with synergistic effects.
-
Bomby Deluxe Strategy
A turn-based strategy game with four unique tribes, hero units, a tech tree, team alliances, and asynchronous multiplayer. Build your civilization on a procedurally generated map, research technologies, recruit heroes with special abilities, and compete or cooperate with other players. Supports both local and online play.
-
Rigged! Board Game
Classic board games — Tic-Tac-Toe, Connect Four, Checkers, and Reversi — but the AI cheats. It peeks at your moves, bends the rules, and plays dirty. Your job is to fight fire with fire using your own set of cheat abilities. A comedic twist on familiar games that gets surprisingly strategic at higher difficulty levels.
-
Letterman Puzzle
A word-guessing game inspired by William Tell. Guess letters to spell the hidden word before the archer lets the arrow fly. Simple to learn, tricky to master, and endlessly replayable with a huge word list. A clean, focused word game with no distractions.
-
VoidRunner Action
A cyberpunk kaizo platformer built for players who want a real challenge. Pixel-perfect jumps, brutal level design, full original soundtrack, and a save system that respects your progress. Inspired by classic precision platformers but set in a neon-drenched dystopia. Not for the faint of heart.
-
ChompDash Action
A retro-styled endless runner where you dodge obstacles, dash through gaps, and chomp collectibles across five visually distinct biomes. Features dynamic weather, a day-night cycle, and an escalating difficulty curve that keeps each run fresh. Simple one-button controls with deep scoring mechanics.
-
HexWords Puzzle
A hex-grid word puzzle where you swipe letters to form words and fill in a crossword pattern. Earn Bomby Coins through skilled play and spend them on hints and power-ups. Combines the satisfaction of word finding with spatial puzzle-solving on a unique hexagonal board.
-
VoidRift Roguelite
A 3D top-down space roguelite built with Three.js. Choose from five weapons, fight through procedurally generated sectors, collect upgrades, and see how deep you can go on a single life. Features bosses, weapon upgrades, and a progression system that unlocks new starting loadouts.
-
CalmMerge Strategy
A zen merge idle game set in a peaceful Japanese garden. Combine items, unlock new tiers, prestige for permanent bonuses, and watch your garden grow. Designed to be relaxing — no timers, no pressure, just the gentle satisfaction of merging and progressing at your own pace.
How It's Built
Every game on this site is 100% client-side — pure HTML, CSS, and JavaScript running in your browser. There are no server-side game engines, no heavy frameworks, and no required downloads. Game saves use your browser's local storage. The leaderboard system runs on a lightweight Deno server with Deno KV for storage.
This approach means the games load fast, work on almost any device, and respect your privacy. Your game data stays on your device unless you choose to participate in leaderboards or multiplayer.
